Prayer Requests and Praises

PRAYER

Please let us know how we can pray for you.  Our pray for you is from Ephesians 5:1-2: “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice for our sins.”

  •       Pray for Paul's nephew Jadyn , one years old, who is battling cancer.    He has responded to chemotherapy, but continues with treatment and is susceptible to infection.
  •       Paul's sister Hayley and her husband as they help Jadyn through this trying time.  You might remember just two years ago Hayley fought cancer herself.
  •       Paul's exhausting schedule.  Pray the Lord sustains him in the workload of ministry both on and off campus.
  •       Marilyn as she teaches the children into their high school years with increasingly difficult subjects and time requirments.
  •       Aydon and Brydon as they grow into young men in the midst of an ungodly culture.  Pray for their spiritual development.
  •       Pastor A. M. (full name withheld for security purposes) who has returned to Zimbabwe to minister in the midst of the turmoil and despair of the recent cholera outbreaks, government oppression and violence and lack of resources, including a daily food supply.
  •       The general issues of missions work on a college campus.  24/7 on call with an open door policy when living on campus results in feeding, counseling, and accomodatig people on their schedule, sometimes at the loss of yours.
  •       For spiritual and physical refreshment for the entire family in the face of limited resources and abundance of need.
  •       For Marilyn's mother, Mrs. Barnes, who continues to struggle with ill health.
  •      For God’s continued provision of our many ministry and family needs. God has been faithful and continues to encourage us through your partnership in the Gospel whether by prayer or the giving of gifts.
  •      For the enabling of God to overcome the cultural and language barriers while we work with ethnic groups from many countries in Southern Africa.

PRAISE

  •      For the life changing transformation in Aydon and Brydon's coach upon their witness to him and his wife.
  •       For Brydon's spiritual maturation as he serves in a leadership role in his Awana Club.

HIV/AIDS

An estimated 5.2 million people were living with HIV and AIDS in South Africa in 2008, more than in any other country.  It is believed that in 2008, over 250,000 South Africans died of AIDS.

National prevalence is around 11%, with some age groups being particularly affected. Almost one-in-three women aged 25-29, and over a quarter of men aged 30-34, are living with HIV.

HIV in South Africa is transmitted predominantly heterosexually between couples, with mother-to-child transmission being the other main infection route.
